Teaster's Builds · Home Builds & Remodels

Drawn, rendered, and built — under one roof.

Teaster's Builds is our licensed construction arm — residential new construction, remodels, and small commercial across East Tennessee, under TN General Contractor License #86051. It's a true one-stop shop: we draw the plans, turn them into a 3D rendering you can walk through, then build it. You don't need plans, an architect, or anything else before you come to us. Just the vision.

New Construction

Ground-up residential builds, engineered for mountain terrain and finished to outlast their owners.

Remodels & Additions

Reworking and expanding existing homes with the same precision and discipline as a new build.

Small Commercial

Licensed for small commercial projects — engineered to perform and built to last.

One Stop, Start to Finish

Design, 3D rendering, and construction under one roof. Bring the vision — we handle everything else.

How a build actually runs

You do not need plans, an architect, or anything else before you call us.

We draw it first, and you walk through it before it is real

Most people arrive with a rough idea and a site, not a set of drawings. That is the normal starting point, not a gap to apologise for. We draw the plans, turn them into a 3D model you can move through on screen, and change it there — where changing it costs an afternoon rather than a framing crew.

The value of the render is not that it looks impressive. It is that people are poor at reading floor plans and very good at reading a room. Ceiling heights, sight lines, how the kitchen actually opens to the living space, whether the window catches the view you bought the lot for — those get decided honestly on screen and stop being change orders later.

Mountain lots change the building, not just the site work

A sloped lot in Blount or Sevier county affects the foundation system, the driveway grade, where utilities enter, how water leaves, and often the whole massing of the house. A daylight basement is frequently the right answer here because the grade gives it to you for very little extra.

Those decisions belong at the drawing stage, with the people who will build it in the room. Designing a flat-lot house and then discovering the lot on site is how budgets move.

One contract, one accountable line

Design-build means the people who drew it are the people who build it. There is no gap between an architect's intent and a builder's interpretation, and no argument about which side a problem fell on — because there is only one side.

It also means the design is priced as it develops rather than after it is finished, so the drawings and the budget stay in the same conversation instead of meeting for the first time at bid.

  • Consult and site walk — the ground, the view, the way you want to live in it
  • Plans and a 3D walkthrough, revised until it is right on screen
  • Approved drawings, permitting, and a schedule you can hold us to
  • Build — framing through finish, with the same team accountable throughout

Remodels and additions are their own discipline

Working into an existing house means discovering it as you go — what is actually behind the wall, whether the framing carries what you want to open up, how the existing systems will take a new load. We plan for that with allowances and a sequence that finds the unknowns early rather than at the point of no return, and we say plainly when a wall cannot come out.

One stop, foundation to final frame — with a licensed construction arm rather than a subcontracted one.

Where we work

Custom homes and remodels across Blount, Sevier, and Knox counties.

Maryville and the Blount County foothills are home ground. In Sevier County most of the work is cabins and view lots that need a daylight basement and a driveway that thinks about ice. Knoxville is flatter ground and city permitting, which is its own build.

★★★★★
“Teasters creation designed a beautiful, one of a kind, backyard oasis. We needed a retaining wall in our new build. Teasters gave us a rock boulder retaining wall, which then curves into a grotto with a jumping rock over our custom pool.”

Questions

Common questions

Do I need plans and an architect before you can start?
No. We draw the plans, produce a 3D rendering you can walk through, and then build it. If you already have plans, we can build from those instead.
What kinds of construction do you take on?
Residential new construction, remodels, and small commercial work. Our contractor is licensed for residential new build and remodel work as well as small commercial projects.
Can you build the house and the outdoor space together?
Yes, and that is the advantage of a company with six divisions. The same company handling the build also does the pool, hardscape, landscaping, and ongoing property care, so nothing falls between two contractors.
What is different about building on a mountain lot in East Tennessee?
The grade affects far more than the site work. It drives the foundation system, the driveway approach, where utilities enter, how water leaves the property, and often the massing of the house itself — a daylight basement is frequently the right answer here because the slope gives it to you cheaply. Those decisions belong at the drawing stage with the builders in the room; designing a flat-lot house and meeting the real lot later is how budgets move.
How do remodels differ from new construction?
A remodel is discovered as it proceeds — what is genuinely behind a wall, whether existing framing will carry an opening, how the current systems take a new load. We plan for that with allowances and a sequence designed to surface unknowns early rather than at the point of no return, and we will say plainly when a wall cannot come out rather than finding an expensive way to pretend it can.
Do you build custom homes in Maryville and the surrounding counties?
Yes. Teaster's Builds is licensed as a Tennessee General Contractor (license 86051) and builds new homes, additions, and remodels across Maryville, Townsend, Sevierville, Pigeon Forge, Gatlinburg, Wears Valley, and Knoxville, and across Blount, Sevier, Knox, Loudon, and Monroe counties. Blount County is home ground; Sevier County work is mostly cabins and view lots; Knoxville is flatter ground with city permitting.
