Priced per tree at the size we plant most. Add uplighting to any tree to light it from below after dark.

The evergreen backbone
Cherry laurels — full, hardy broadleaf evergreens for the front of the house and bed edges, and the year-round structure everything else is designed around. Priced per 10-gallon shrub, planted.

Build your beds in layers
Tell us the size of your bed, then stack the layers you want. Each layer is priced per square foot and multiplied by your area, so it scales exactly to your yard.
Natural stone steps
Hand-set stone steps that carry a slope safely and look like they have always been there. Priced by the linear foot, and the rate already includes steps built to a normal step size — both depth and width. Oversized or custom steps are priced at your visit.
Light the way
Low-voltage fixtures set about every 8 feet along a walk or drive. Run them straight down one side, or zig-zag side to side for a fuller wash of light.
Hard surfaces to live on
Patios, pool decks and walkways. Pick your material and enter the square footage — every rate includes prep, base and installation.
Black aluminum fencing
Powder-coated black aluminum — it disappears into the landscape instead of walling it off, and it will not rot or need painting. Gates are $500 each, installed.

Landscape cost questions
- How much does landscaping cost in East Tennessee?
- We publish our rates instead of hiding them. Trees are sold individually and installed: $400 for hardwood and flowering trees like redbud, dogwood, crape myrtle and maple, $500 for screening trees like Green Giant and Emerald Green arborvitae, and $700 for ornamental specimens like Blue Atlas Cedar and Hinoki Cypress. Foundation shrubs are $300 each for a 10-gallon plant. Planting beds are priced per square foot and stack in layers: $3.00 for ornamental bed plants, $1.75 for bed prep with weed fabric and staples, $2.25 for top soil, plus ground cover at $3.75 for river rock, $1.60 for dyed enviro mulch or $0.50 for pine straw. Natural stone steps are $150 per linear foot and landscape lighting is $165 per light. Every one of those figures includes materials, delivery and professional installation.
- Why do you price by the square foot, the linear foot, and the cubic foot?
- Because measurement is the only honest way to price this work, and thirty years on these mountains taught us how to price down to the measurement. A bed is a surface, so it prices by the square foot. Steps and fence lines are runs, so they price by the linear foot. Bulk material like soil and stone is volume, so it prices by the cubic foot. Tying the rate to the measurement means the number scales in both directions and you can check it yourself: make the bed two feet deeper and the price moves by exactly two feet of bed, no renegotiation and no mystery. A lump-sum "landscape package" hides which part costs what, which is exactly where a number can be padded without anyone seeing it. We would rather publish the rate and let you do the arithmetic.
- Do your landscaping prices include labor and installation?
- Yes. Every rate we publish is an installed rate — materials, delivery and the crew are all in the number. We do not quote you a plant price and then add installation as a separate line at signing. A $400 hardwood tree is $400 in the ground, and a $150 linear foot of stone steps includes the steps built to a normal step size, both depth and width. The only things priced separately are oversized or custom specimens, which we mark "quote on site" so nothing is buried.
- How is landscape lighting priced and how far apart do the lights go?
- Landscape lighting is $165 per light, installed. Along a walkway or drive we set low-voltage fixtures roughly every 8 feet, either running straight down one side or zig-zagging side to side for a fuller wash of light, so a 40-foot path is about five fixtures. The same $165 covers a light set into a stone step riser so every tread reads at night, or an uplight at the base of a specimen tree to light the canopy from below. Tell us the length of the run and we lay out the fixture count with you.
- What size are the plants when you install them, and how big do they get?
- The photographs on our estimator show each plant at mature size, so you can see what it becomes — not the size it arrives. What we plant is nursery stock: foundation shrubs go in at 10 gallon, and trees are set at the size available from our supplier that season, which we confirm with you before we order. A screening row is a good example of the difference — Green Giant arborvitae are planted a few feet tall and grow into the twenty-foot screen the picture shows, putting on around three feet a year in East Tennessee once established. If a specific size matters to you, whether you want an instant screen or a specimen with presence on day one, say so at your visit. Larger stock is usually available and is priced accordingly.
- Is the estimator a quote?
- No. It is a pricing calculator to build a budget around, and it uses our real installed rates so the number is honest rather than a placeholder. Totals include an 8% material overage, because we order enough to finish a job without shorting your beds. Your final contract price is set after we walk the property with you and build out the yard together — slope, access, drainage, rock and special sizing can all move the number, and those are things nobody can see from a screen.
- Why do you use dyed enviro mulch instead of natural mulch?
- Because it still looks like mulch in August. Dyed enviro mulch, in brown or black, holds its color through the season instead of graying out a few weeks after it goes down, so beds keep the finished look you paid for. It is $1.60 per square foot installed, the same as any mulch would be, which is why we install it exclusively. If you would rather have a different surface, river rock is $3.75 per square foot and pine straw is $0.50.
